Tim Burgess here.

In Napoleon Hill’s classic book, “Think and Grow Rich,” there’s an entire chapter on one of the most important subjects that we can ever talk about – imagination.

You know, most people, if they use their imagination at all, use it completely wrong. How many times have you heard in your life, “Oh my gosh, I just can’t imagine that!” That’s the negative side, isn’t it? When was the last time you saw a four-year-old use their imagination? They use theirs ALL the time, don’t they? They use it over and over and over again. They live in an imaginative world, or an imaginary world. But, on the other hand, when was the last time you saw a thirty or a forty-year-old use their imagination?

See, everything that’s ever been created, anything that’s ever been created, began in the mind – in somebody’s imagination. Think about the computer screen that you’re watching right now. Think about the cell phone that you may be holding in your hand. Take a look around you for a moment, any man-made object that you see is the result of something that started in someone’s imagination.

So the point I am trying to make is that our imagination is a powerful tool that we need to use. We also need to use it the right way by imagining the wonderful things we want in our lives, not all the things we don’t want. We want to make sure that we don’t let the C.A.T. dominate our imagination. Remember C.A.T being our counter-productive attitudes and thoughts. What we need to learn to do is create whatever we want in our life. Do you really want to live through life saying things like, “Oh my gosh, I can’t imagine…?” Or do you want to use your imagination to create the life that you truly wish to live? By starting with the image in your mind you can then go create that wonderful though in its physical reality. You have the ability, now all you have to do is use that ability.

This is Tim Burgess.

Don’t feed the C.A.T.
